Cough Variant asthma is a special breed of asthma whose only symptom is a chronic cough. While the basic elements of the traditional definition of asthma, namely inflamed bronchial tubes, are present cough variant asthma can be very difficult to diagnose because of its similarities to other chronic illnesses. Without the obvious asthma attack to point fingers toward the diagnosis of asthma, it can be very difficult for the medical community to properly recognize cough variant asthma.
